Things to Do

The Little Bothy is situated in the Teme Valley, just half a mile flat walk from the market town of Tenbury Wells with its many small independent retailers, restaurants and pubs.

Recommended by me;

The Rose and Crown – excellent food and local Ales

Spotty Dog Tea Rooms and Gallery – a place for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea and to watch the world go by

The Regal Cinema – currently being refurbished

The Pump Rooms and Tenbury Museum for the town’s history

A walk on the Burgage or along the River Teme.

In the other direction you can walk to Burford House Garden Store with its National Clematis collection, delightful gardens, restaurant, interiors shop and plant nursery. Or enjoy the peace and tranquillity of St Mary’s historic church and churchyard.

A short drive will take you to the towns of Leominster or Ludlow, both excellent destinations for a mooch around. Leominster is full of lovely antique and vintage shops where there is always something delightful to be found often at a bargain price.  A visit to Ludlow’s castle and riverside walks are also recommended, but how to choose from the towns mind boggling array of excellent restaurants and café’s.? Ludlow Assembly Rooms offers a sometimes-surprising array of art and entertainment, with films, workshops and exhibitions to suit most tastes.  Its market place is home to antique, craft and food markets each week,

For garden lovers there are many local places to enthral you. Hampton Court Castle Gardens and Stockton Bury Gardens being just two of my favourites. National Trust properties, Berrington Hall and Croft Castle are also a short drive away.

The Teme Valley and surrounding areas boasts an array of popular festivals and events throughout the year.  Food and Beer festivals in spring, a variety of excellent cultural events and agricultural shows in summer, Apple fest in Autumn, the famous Mistletoe market and Festival along with Medieval and Victorian street fairs in the winter.

My favourites include, in June Shobdon Food festival and in August The Burwarton Show and Tenbury Agricultural and Country show

The area is great for exploring on foot or in the car and the fishing is excellent.
